conducted a two-day training on the Government Procurement
Reform Act (GPRA) for the officials of the Land Bank of
the Philippines (LBP) on 26-27 April 2006. The said training
was held at the Bank’s Head Office in, Malate, Manila.
The main objective
of the activity was to improve the procurement process of
LBP through an integrated and streamlined procurement system
that would suit the corporate plans and strategies of LBP.
The said training is part of several components proposed
by PWI to meet the said objective.
Speakers came
from the pool of procurement experts including Engr. Antonio
V. Molano, Atty. Jose Luis C. Syquia and members of PWI
namely Engr. Ciprianio A. Ravanes Jr., Atty. Dennis S. Santiago
and Engr. Virgilio S. Santos. The participants, on the other
hand, came from the different departments of LBP: legal,
administrative, human resource, IT, among others.
The two-day
training consisted of several presentations on the GPRA
and group activities such as case studies where the participants
actively provided inputs. An ample amount of time was provided
for questions and clarifications on procurement issues that
were faced by LBP. As a final activity, the participants
evaluated the performance of the speakers and the overall
conduct of the said training. The speaker’s performance
and overall conduct was rated as “very good”,
which is the second highest possible rate that may be accorded.
